Editorial standards
These standards govern how Bromley Business Journal selects stories, distinguishes editorial from commercial content, verifies factual claims and handles corrections.
How stories are selected
The newsroom prioritises stories with clear relevance to businesses, workers, students, residents and community organisations in Bromley and Greater London. Selection is not for sale.
Commercial relationships — advertising, sponsored features, partner content and directory listings — do not influence which independent editorial stories are commissioned, how they are written, or the conclusions they reach.
Editorial vs sponsored content
Every article carries a visible label. Independent editorial reporting is labelled News, Analysis, Interview or Opinion. Commercially supported or company-supplied content is labelled Partner Content, Sponsored or Press Release and is styled distinctly so readers can tell at a glance.
Verification
Factual claims in independent reporting should be supported and verified against primary sources where possible. Company-supplied information used in editorial coverage is disclosed as such.
We do not publish fabricated journalists, reader reviews, companies, awards or statistics. Where information cannot yet be verified, we say so.
Corrections
We correct material errors of fact promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy for the process and how to submit a request.
Submitting news
Companies and community organisations can submit stories, press releases and event announcements via the Submit a Story page. Submission does not guarantee publication. Editorial, press release and sponsored opportunities are treated differently and are clearly labelled.
Commercial relationships
Advertising, partner content, sponsored features, press releases and business profile upgrades are commercial products offered by the publication. They are clearly labelled and do not guarantee positive coverage in independent editorial content.
